Mid-America Plastics Partners Inc. members may be able to lower their resin costs through an alliance with Resin Technology Inc.
Forth Worth, Texas-based RTI agreed to create a confidential customized resin-purchasing program for each MAPP member that signs a two-year commitment, said RTI President Garland Strong.
Basically, RTI assumes an economic risk. If a program fails to save money for a processor, RTI does not get any revenue.
The relationship is part of an effort by Indianapolis-based MAPP to help processors gain knowledge and leverage material purchases. The first MAPP firms participating in the program are injection molders Master Industries Inc. of Piqua, Ohio, and Scottsburg Plastics Inc. of Scottsburg, Ind.
