Nova Polymers Inc., constrained by current compounding capacity, is opening another production plant.
The Evansville company spent about $500,000 to buy a 12,000-square-foot plant and a 2-acre site next door. It is installing a Werner & Pfleiderer twin-screw extruder and a 6-inch, single-screw extruder to give its second plant about 4 million pounds per year of compounding capacity, according to a spokesman. The facility will employ about 40.
Nova said the project will allow higher output of Novalast thermoplastic vulcanizate and Novalene thermoplastic polyolefins.
Nova also said the expansion will make it easier to produce impact modifiers and Nova's new Novalast oil-resistant TPV.
The company specializes in custom colors and flame-retardant compounds and is ISO 9002 and QS9000 certified. Officials did not disclose production capacity of the 40,000-square-foot headquarters plant in Evansville.
