We can complain all we want to and cry night and day about unfair trade. But you have to understand our time has came and gone.
The manufacturing in this country will leave here. The companies that are here now will either have something to do with government, medical or defense. The companies that we deal with are all struggling and if they cannot buy cheap molds overseas they will not survive.
The last two molds we built were to produce parts for Toyota. When the books were put to rest we made $27 an hour. We lost a lot of money, but I just cannot lay around and not work.
I cannot keep my company afloat with these numbers.
We have downsized several times. We have laid off 50 percent of our employees, our profit has fallen to near zero, if not in the red. I even feel sorry for my competitors. But, most of all, I feel sorry for the mold builders who have spent years in their trade trying to make a living.
It is time to admit to ourselves that our jobs will soon be over for most of us. The government, the consumer and our customers all want cheap products, at our expense. This is something we are unable and unwilling to give, so our ship is sinking and we have no life raft to cling to. The good thing is, most of us are skilled and we can be re-educated in other fields.
Good luck to all and hope to see you in a good-paying job soon.
