Thin-gauge thermoformer Innovative Plastech Inc. has closed its Texas plant.
The company established the Monahans, Texas, plant in the summer of 2001 but closed it late last year and moved the single thermoforming machine to IPI headquarters in Batavia, Ill.
The plant employed six and was established to serve electronics manufacturers in Mexico. But Plastech officials found that the satellite plant did not make sense for the small manufacturer, they said in an interview at Pack Expo in Chicago.
IPI, which has seven thermoforming lines and 38 employees in Batavia, makes blister packs, trays and clamshells for the electronics, retail and food industries.
