Prototype specialist Plastic Molding Development has launched a $2.5 million expansion, including its largest injection press for firms to test molds.
The Sterling Heights company just installed a 3,300-ton Van Dorn Demag press, adding it to seven other presses with clamping forces of 170-2,000 tons. The firm also is adding 10,000 square feet of space for warehousing, said operations manager Cheryl Sturgis.
PMD and its 17 employees work with a cross-section of processors and toolmakers, providing equipment and space to test new equipment.
