Plastics machinery maker Krauss-Maffei Kunststofftechnik GmbH has purchased a German automation supplier. The move is designed to help KM supply manufacturing cells for injection molding.
Munich-based Krauss-Maffei said the company, Neureder AG of Schwaig, Germany, makes robots and builds customized automation systems markets such as automotive, appliance, medical, cosmetics, packaging and electrical.
Krauss-Maffei has partnered with Neureder in projects before. The injection press maker said it will continue to source automation products from other suppliers, including linear drives and pick-and-place robots, if that gives a better match for specific applications. Likewise, Neureder will continue to operate independently in the market. Terms were not disclosed. Neureder employs 156 and had sales of about $20 million in fiscal 2002, ended June 30.
Founder Josef Neureder will continue to manage the operation.
