International Packaging Corp. opened a Chicago-area center to distribute packaging for the optical media industry.
The new site near O'Hare International Airport in Wood Dale, Ill., reduces IPC's logistical costs and shortens delivery times, Pete Costello, vice president of sales and marketing, said in a telephone interview.
``Our focus is on large and small replicators and video stores that buy [digital versatile discs] and resell them,'' he said.
``We needed a facility focused on smaller orders.''
IPC manufactures some packaging in Fort Wayne, where it is headquartered, but imports most products, including paper and plastic packaging for both compact discs and digital versatile discs.
IPC was established in 1985.
