John Jones has 36 years of plastics industry experience, the past 13 as a consultant. He was vice president of PenResearch Group Inc. from 1994-2001, when Britain's Applied Market Information Ltd. acquired the Reading, Pa.-based plastics, packaging and chemical consulting firm and made Jones president of the renamed U.S. operation. AMI LLC provides market research, acquisitions analysis, product development and strategic planning reports, and does much of its work in the areas of compounds, pigments, additives and thermoplastic concentrates.
Jones began his career in manufacturing in 1966, working first as an engineer and supervisor for the PVC film and plastics packaging operations of Reynolds Metals Co. From 1973-86 he performed similar duties for polyolefin film producer Exxon Chemical Co., and in 1988-89 served as sales manager for J.C. Parry & Sons, a Baltimore extruder and converter of stretch film. He then moved into consulting when he joined Strategic Analysis Inc. in Reading, where he worked for five years before going to work for PenResearch.
Jones holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., and an MBA from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.
