Precise Technology Inc. and Tech Group Inc. are co-winners of the Plastics News' 2002 Processor of the Year, the newspaper announced Jan. 27 during its Executive Forum.
The announcement marks the first time since the award began in 1996 that Plastics News has named two winners. After an extensive judging process, Precise, based in North Versailles, Pa., and Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Tech Group ended up tied. Both winning companies are custom injection molders.
Plastics News will profile the winning companies in the Feb. 17 issue. An editorial about the winners appears in this issue on Page 6.
Two other processors also were finalists: Inland Technologies Inc. of Fontana, Calif., and Miniature Precision Components Inc. of Walworth, Wis.
Plastics News announced the winners at a reception and dinner during the newspaper's Executive Forum in Phoenix. The award is co-sponsored by Ernst & Young Corporate Finance Inc.
Seventeen companies were nominated for the 2002 Processor of the Year Award, which kicked off last spring. The Plastics News editorial staff analyzed seven criteria: financial performance, quality, customer relations, employee relations, environmental record, public service efforts and technological innovation
As co-winners, Precise and Tech Group join a respected group. Past winners are Cascade Engineering Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Tessy Plastics Corp. of Elbridge, N.Y.; Royal Group Technologies Ltd. of Woodbridge, Ontario; Courtesy Corp. of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; Nypro Inc. of Clinton, Mass; and Bryan Custom Plastics of Bryan, Ohio.
