Huber Engineered Materials has developed an alumina trihydrate flame retardant especially for pultrusion and other thermoset processing.
MoldX A3 has a particle shape designed to reduce pulling forces and to provide higher loadings and faster line speeds in pultrusion, according to the Atlanta firm.
The Huber controlled-function technology gives MoldX A3 particles a special morphology for viscosity control and wet-out at high loadings.
In addition to pultrusion, the flame retardant is well-suited to resin transfer molding and sheet and bulk molding compounds, the company said.
