I just finished the story “Mexico balks at growing China 'invasion' ” [March 24, Page 9]. I say, welcome to the real world.
I find it ironic that Mexico is complaining about China stealing their factories and their jobs when they have been doing it to the United States for years.
Mexico really hurt the plastic injection industry — tooling, molding and production — in our country. My husband has been a toolmaker for more than 20 years and I have watched his hours decrease from 55-plus hours a week to 24-32.
I have more than 10 years as a quality manager at two plastic injection shops. When trying to hire new personnel I have found that it is the benefits that rule. Our health and dental insurance has gone up while the coverage has been reduced. This was done so that workers could “afford” to have insurance. You can't afford to get sick anymore because you can't pay the deductibles and copays.
It was not like this before Mexico stole our factories and jobs. So wake up Mexico — what comes around goes around. Put up or shut up.
