Zeon Chemicals LP has commercialized a new family of heat- and oil-resistant thermoplastic vulcanizates called Zeotherm TPV.
The Louisville, Ky., company said the elastomers can withstand heat up to 302° F. They offer the feel and performance of thermoset rubbers with the processability and recyclability of thermoplastics, Zeon claims. Under-the-hood automotive parts such as seals, boots and hose and industrial goods are targeted for the TPV products since they resist a range of fluids at a consistently high temperature.
