Plastics Encounter in the summer of 2004 will team with the MoldMaking Expo in Cleveland to provide side-by-side trade shows.
Plastics Encounter Midwest and MoldMaking Expo 2004 will take place June 22-24 at the I-X Center near Cleveland's airport. MoldMaking Expo - owned by Communication Technologies Inc., publisher of MoldMaking Technology magazine - expects to occupy 25,000 square feet of exhibit space, alongside Plastics Encounter's more than 30,000 square feet, said CTI President Gary Orfe.
The joint event will include MoldMaking Expo's technical conference, which complements Plastics Encounter's business management and product design conferences. The latter again will be co-presented by the Industrial Designers Society of America.
``The partnership with the Encounter also means the MoldMaking Expo will be extended to three days from its traditional two,'' said Orfe, whose Doylestown, Pa., company began staging the annual event five years ago.
Cooperation between the two groups actually begins next spring, at the March 23-25 Plastics Encounter Southeast in Charlotte, N.C., noted Linda Whelan, director of trade shows and marketing for Plastics Encounter and Plastics News. Communication Technologies will organize a pavilion of mold makers on the Encounter show floor, and put on a one-day version of its technical mold-making conference at the Charlotte Convention Center.
That complements the decision by the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc.'s Structural Plastics Division to collocate its 2004 technical conference and new-product design competition in Charlotte on March 21-23, at the front end of Plastics Encounter.
Plastics Encounter is produced by Crain Communications Inc. and Akron-based Plastics News.
