The Benz Materials Testing Instruments (Booth E10116) product line includes a melt-flow index tester for gauging the composition and consistency of plastics and other materials.
``The MFI 2100 can do everything from finding inconsistencies in extruded polyethylene pellets to analyzing the density of'' thermoplastic elastomers, President Ted Benz said in a news release. The instrument has a new, integrated, digital temperature control and timer and an end-of-test alarm.
The unit can measure the flow rate of molten recycled plastic resins under prescribed temperature, time and pressure and confirm the identity of pellets or chips through flow rates. The MFI 2100 also can be used with rubber, lubricants and other liquid and molten substances.
