Welex Inc. (Booth N4501) is launching its new Hercules series of sheet extrusion lines specifically designed to cool thick, wide industrial sheet.
Also featured at the Blue Bell, Pa., company's NPE booth is its recently unveiled Evolution sheet take-offs that include several innovations.
The Hercules lines contain large-diameter, heated rolls followed by long cooling conveyors to prevent sheet distortion from differential shrinkage of the cool surface layers and warm inner layer. Cooling can be supplemented with air-cooling fans or temperature-controlled immersion baths.
The Hercules system is designed for upstack operation to permit optimum contact with the third roll. It also simplifies inspection of the embossed surface for quality control. A downhill cooling conveyor reduces stresses in the sheet.
Gear-drive or indivdual roll drives both are offered on the Hercules sheet system.
Welex's Evolution takeoffs feature direct-acting linear bearings rather than swing arms to eliminate undesirable lateral roll movement.
Roll closing pressures are continuously adjustable. Direct-acting, rigid roll-gap stops have digital motorized adjustment to avoid any frame or other deflection.
A nonthreaded, leakproof piping system is a closed loop installed near the external frame for easy access.
