Auxiliary equipment supplier ACS Group (Booth S1415) is using big-company clout to help its independent sales representatives get a good rate on medical benefits.
The program creates a negotiating block, consisting of ACS and its sales reps, to get the best possible rates, terms and service for health care. It also includes financial services as well as discounts for purchases of office equipment and supplies, shipping and travel services.
Tom Breslin, president and chief executive officer, told the reps the company understands the difficult environment faced by independent reps.
He said helping rep organizations offer the same premiums as ACS employees enables the firms to attract and keep good employees.
ACS got the idea when a small rep firm with about 10 employees asked for help negotiating its health benefits package. Breslin said the firm ended up saving $30,000 a year. Reps can choose from a menu of options.
