CHICAGO (July 16, 1:15 p.m. EDT) — Chen Hsong Machinery Co. Ltd. of Hong Kong introduced a high-speed press at NPE 2003, dubbed the Supermaster TS.
The machine, available with hydraulic or toggle clamps, comes in clamping forces of 55- 275 tons.
Chen Hsong designed the Supermaster TS to have maximum space between tie bars and a large area of daylight. A low-pressure system offers mold protection.
Fast clamping comes from a regeneration circuit. On the injection side, a double-cylinder injection unit saves machine space and gives a secure hold on pressure for the injection carriage.
Other features include a nitrided screw and barrel and Bosch proportional valves.
Also at the Chicago show, Chen Hsong introduced the new circular platen on its C-Series toggle-clamp press and the large-tonnage Jetmaster machine. New for the C series is a standard variable pump to save energy.
Using the round platen instead of the traditional, square platen reduces the concentration of stress.
In other news, the company showed its hydraulic Supermaster HC, with a radial piston-type hydraulic motor and standard features of low-pressure mold protection and multistage clamping pressure control.
The Mark IV has wider tie-bar spacing than the Supermaster HC. It now is available as large as 220 tons, but by the end of the year, Chen Hsong will offer the Mark IV in sizes up to 450 tons, said Jack Chan, senior marketing officer.
Chan also said the company has upped the sizes on its two-platen machines to 3,520 tons. The machines used to top out at 2,750 tons.
In PET preform molding presses, Chen Hsong now offers a 56-cavity mold for the Chen-PET model. Chan said the company makes its own hot-runner molds.
Chen Hsong's North American unit, Chen Hsong Machinery (Canada) Co. Ltd., is based in Keswick, Ontario.
