CHICAGO (July 16, 1 p.m. EDT) — At NPE 2003, Fortune International Inc. showed three Victor Taichung presses from Taiwan, including a new, 110-ton, all-electric press using a toggle clamping system patented by Fanuc Ltd.
Patrick Rice, sales manager for Fortune, said the VA-brand of electrics has four electric servo motors from Japan driving ball screws. Swiss-made load cells measure injection pressure and back pressure.
The all-electric machines come in clamping forces of 55, 88 and 110 tons. Rice said a 200-ton all-electric will be available to U.S. customers in September. Fortune plans to introduce a 300-ton all-electric in 2004, he said at the show, held July 23-27 in Chicago.
Fortune also showed two standard hydraulically driven toggle presses under its VS line, in clamping forces of 88 and 200 tons. The five-point toggle machines feature a Bosch hydraulic system and a nitrided screw and barrel.
Fortune is based in Somerset, N.J.
