CHICAGO (July 21, 11:05 a.m. EDT) — OK Color America, a color concentrates maker based in Torrance, Calif., will add its fourth extrusion line and 8,000 square feet of manufacturing space by the end of the year.
OK Color is a joint venture between resin distributor Calsak Polymers and Japanese compounder OK Kasei. The venture has seen strong growth in specialty colors and effects, such as camoflauge, and in its line of purging compounds, according to colorant division product manager Yuji Sakai.
Most of OK Color's products are polypropylene-based, but the firm also does some work in polystyrene and ABS. Top markets include toys, electronics and housewares. Calsak handles all of the firm's distribution.
OK Color hopes to add a fifth line next year if growth continues, Sakai said. The 9-year-old firm posted sales of $10 million in 2002.
