HK Plastics Engineering Inc. has invested about $340,000 in two Toyo injection molding machines and a Haas computer numerically controlled mill.
The Toyo presses, with clamping forces of 200 and 400 tons, replace two older machines, and the mill is part of a toolroom expansion, said Ron Krippner, vice president. The 200-ton machine went into service in late July, and the 400-ton unit in June.
Oceanside-based HK operates 18 molding machines of 28-400 tons. The plastics processor and its sister company, HK Screw Machine Products, employ more than 120 and had 2002 sales of $13.5 million.
