The Society of Automotive Engineers is switching dates for its annual World Congress in Detroit, beginning in 2005.
SAE, which traditionally meets at Detroit's Cobo Center in early March, said the change to April reflects input from various groups that believe a later date would help the event - in part because of warmer temperatures and a decreased chance of snow.
In addition, the early March dates often conflicted with a major auto show in Geneva.
The 2004 World Congress still is set for March 8-11. SAE has confirmed dates for the next five years, with the event slated for April 11-15, 2005; April 3-7, 2006; April 16-20, 2007; April 7-11, 2008; April 20-24, 2009; and April 12-16, 2010.
