NDS Inc. is shuttering an injection molding site in Burbank, Calif., consolidating operations into its Troup, Texas, production plant.
``We're targeting to have everything wrapped up in early 2004,'' Mike Gummeson, chief executive officer, said in an Oct. 10 telephone interview. He did not have details on how many employees will be affected. About 70 positions will be transferred to Troup.
NDS, a maker of meter boxes, couplings and equipment pads based in Lindsay, acquired its site in Burbank in 2000 when it bought Flow Control Inc., a maker of specialty fittings used in pools and spas.
``We think we can operate more efficiently out of fewer locations,'' Gummeson said. ``A lot of the products that are produced in Burbank are sold to the East Coast.''
Lindsay still will be its largest production facility. NDS has owned its site in Troup for about seven years. The site employs 100.
