Niigata Engineering Co. Ltd. introduced its fourth-generation all-electric injection press, with faster injection speed, bigger shot size and stronger nozzle touch force.
Itasca, Ill.-based Niigata said the MDS-IV can reach a speed of 300 millimeters per second.
The company also boosted the shot size to 14.14 ounces on a press with 200 tons of clamping force and to 45 ounces on a 385-tonner.
The company claims the MDS-IV has the industry's highest nozzle touch force. For example, a 110-ton machine has a touch force of 3.26 tons, achieved through a patent-pending engineering design, and does not use any extra cylinders.
MDS-IV presses come in clamping forces of 35-2,000 tons.
Another patent-pending feature allows pack and hold time up to triple that of a standard injection press, according to Niigata. Also, the machines have an expert screen that allows inputs of set-up parameters from a hydraulic machine, which are then automatically converted to an all-electric process.
