Ewikon Hotrunner Systems of America Inc. is offering multitip nozzles for direct vertical gating, called the HPS III-MV series.
The nozzles are available as hot-sprue, multitip nozzles or as multitip nozzles designed to be used in a complete hot-runner system with a manifold. The MVE model does not require a manifold.
Nozzles with pitch diameters of 16-18 millimeters and two, three or four tips come with a special heated adapter that includes an integrated heating element and thermocouple.
The MV is designed for use with a complete hot-runner system. Depending on the pitch diameter, up to eight parts can be gated simultaneously with one nozzle.
It also may be used for multipoint gating of a single part.
Ewikon, based in East Dundee, Ill., also released the HPS III-MH1 nozzles, designed for open horizontal gating in standard mold inserts. Another set of nozzles, HPS III-MH2 for direct horizontal gating with split mold inserts, are suited for packaging and medical molding applications.
Another new product, the HPS III-K nozzle, also is aimed at fast-cycling packaging and medical molding. Sealing in the shaft area simplifies mold construction and provides a well-balanced temperature profile in the gate area, according to the firm.
Ewikon said the slim-line HPS III-S nozzle has a flow channel of 4½ millimeters. It offers a low-pressure drop.
The company also introduced the next generation of hot-runner controllers, called HPS-C.
