Butler, Pa.-based Agr*TopWave LLC introduced three quality-testing instruments for plastic bottles.
The Preformer inspects PET preforms, at a rate of up to 22,000 per hour, for a variety of common defects such as leaks, flaws in the seal surface and visual defects in the sidewall and base. The machine incorporates two inspection modules in a single package — a camera-based inspection module for detecting sidewall and base defects and a leak detection module to check for seal integrity and leaks caused by holes or not enough resin.
Agr*TopWave also has added a feature called Vision to its PERWallplus vision inspection and thickness monitoring system. The camera-based system monitors sidewall thickness distribution and detects random defects — at speeds of up to 40,000 bottles per hour.
The company also said its Vision bottle gauge 7000 is now available, for laboratory use. The automated testing station works unattended, using a high-speed robotic handling system to move each bottle from a tray and place it on the testing surface.
