StaMixCo LLC was founded this year to make and market a new disk static mixer, licensed from Bayer AG's High Viscosity Technology Group in Germany.
StaMixCo has an exclusive, worldwide license. Bayer has used the technology at its resin manufacturing operations. Applications include injection molding mixing nozzles, extrusion belt blenders and hundreds of other uses in processing fibers, polymers reactive resin/hardener systems and more.
The mixer is based in the BKM mixer, which is marketed as the SMX mixer, which also was developed by Bayer and licensed to a static mixer supplier in the mid-1970s. The new Disk Static Mixer has the same structure as the well-known SMX, but its disk fabrication technique reduces the cost of manufacturing and gives higher strength. StaMixCo also can easily vary the number of crossbars, which keeps the basic geometric structure identical and minimizes the length-to-diameter ration in mixing.
StaMixCo has offices in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Switzerland.
The company also is offering a mixing nozzle for injection molding called the SMN, in diameters of 12, 18, 22, 27 and 40 millimeters for injection presses with screw diameters from 30-180mm.
StaMixCo also sells a melt blender SMB for extruders. The unit, which has no moving parts, mixes and homogenizes the polymer melt at the die. It eliminates differences in temperature and changes in composition. The SMB can be used on extruders with screw diameters from 25-240mm.
