Sonics & Materials Inc. of Newtown, Conn., introduced several ultrasonic welding machines.
The ElectroPress plastics assembly system is designed for high-precision, close-tolerance applications. It can control the final weld position to a tolerance of plus or minus 0.0003 inch, through a broad range of velocities.
Model 2050 welding press is a more robust, rigid machine, thanks to improved castings, rails and bearings, an in-line air cylinder, increased column diameter, wall thickness and throat depth.
Model FC6015 is a kilohertz-power welder that can supply up to 6,000 watts of output.
Also new is a 30 kHz system, in between 20 kHz and 40 kHz models, which can weld larger parts but still has the advantages of the 40 kHz welder, such as reduced noise and the ability to weld delicate parts.
A wide-bed linear vibration welder for large plastic parts has a 72-inch-wide hydraulic lift table. It incorporates all the features of Sonics' standard EH series vibration welder.
Sonics & Materials also rolled out a hand-held welder, called the Model H-540.
