Fabricated and cast mold maker JohnDel Inc. invested about $240,000 to relocate 4.7 miles to an existing building on 2.2 acres in Kent.
JohnDel employs nine, occupies 9,000 square feet and had 2003 sales approaching $1 million. ``We hope to add a salesman and five more employees,'' said Randy Johnson, JohnDel president, via e-mail. The firm purchased the building and land in October, made improvements and moved in November.
JohnDel began operations in 2,200 square feet in 1999 to provide fabricated molds to the rotational molding industry and took occupancy of 4,000 square feet in late 2000. The driver for the move: ``We had outgrown our rented space,'' Johnson said.
The firm has expanded into castings and major mold repairs and revisions. Now, about 60 percent of the business involves aluminum castings.
