Carbon fiber makes its way onto General Motors Corp.'s Hummer H3T concept pickup truck, with the material used as a protective ``belly plate'' barrier along the underside of the vehicle for off-road cruising. The truck, introduced in Los Angeles for the 2004 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, would also rely on the plate for aerodynamic improvements on the highway. Detroit-based GM sees the ``midsize'' concept as an opportunity to extend the Hummer brand to smaller vehicles.
