Angel Oria was elected president of Anipac, Mexico´s National Association for Plastics Industries, in March 2002. Last September he also was named to the coordinating committee of the Council of International Plastics Association Directors, joining representatives from Japan, Britain and the United States.
Oria is director and major shareholder of Polímero y Materias Primas Internacionales, one of Mexico´s biggest distributors of raw materials, known as Polymat. He also is a major shareholder in Polyresinas SA de CV, and vice president of Polipropileno Nacional, a polypropylene molder, extruder and fiber processor known as Grupo Polinal.
Mexico City-based Anipac has about 400 member companies that represent 70 percent of plastic raw materials consumption in Mexico. The group´s short-term objective is to encourage cooperation among industry chambers, associations and public and private organizations, to support the plastics industry. It also aims to help the country´s plastics companies – 90 percent of which are considered "micro" in size – to become more globally competitive.
