Walter Kuskowski started Wentworth Technologies in 1991 and today the Burlington, Ontario-based company employs more than 1,000 people, has annual sales of about US$140 million, and operates 17 mold manufacturing and service facilities in six countries.
A native of Poland, Kuskowski is a professional engineer with a master of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Technology in Warsaw, Poland, and an MBA from McGill and Concordia University in Montreal. He began his career in plastics processing at General Electric Co. in Canada, where he spent almost 20 years in executive positions in engineering and manufacturing.
Wentworth specializes in making blow molds, but also makes PET preform and other injection molds, metal stamping tools, and does plastics processing such as the thermoforming and injection molding of food-service disposables and lid containers. The firm has focused on implementing its proprietary "Fast to Market" program to allow it to help customers accelerate their introduction of new products. Wentworth ranks No. 2 among North American mold makers with $US75 million in annual tooling sales.
