Scott Charon joined the Zeeland, Mich.-based Herman Miller in 2001 to help facilitate supply-chain communications for the company's Design for the Environment (DfE) program. Charon has worked closely with McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry LLC of Charlottesville, Va., to implement MBDC´s "Cradle-to-Cradle" design protocol at Herman Miller and his efforts have helped the 81-year-old office-furniture maker to advance its corporate sustainability objectives.
Charon received his bachelor of arts degree in supply-chain management from Michigan State University in 1990. Following graduation, he spent 11 years with the automotive division of Johnson Controls Inc. in Holland, Mich., with responsibilities in purchasing, management and finance.
In addition to his responsibilities with Herman Miller, Charon works with the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum as a member of its purchasing committee. He received his master´s degree in business from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., in 2001.
