Larry Montsinger is president and owner of MTI Thermoplastic Composites, a division of Montsinger Technologies Inc., which focuses on the specialized but fast-growing business of pultrusion compounding long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resins. He started the company in 1989, after gaining plastics and fiber experience by working for 10 years with Hoechst Celanese Corp. and four years with Vinylex Corp. Parent company Montsinger Technologies handles the licensing of its patented long-fiber technology, and also produces custom compounds and continuous-fiber-reinforced rods, flat bars and engineered shapes.
Based in Charlotte, N.C., Montsinger holds six patents in the long-fiber field. He also has been active in the Society of Plastics Engineers for 15 years and is a past chairman of its Composites Division. He earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee.
