John Manuck founded Techmer PM in 1981 as a single production line in Rehrig Pacific Co.'s Los Angeles plant. He has built it into a $130 million, 500-employee manufacturer of color and additives concentrates with five U.S. plants, plus joint-venture production deals in Europe, China, Japan, Malaysia, the Middle East and Australia. The firm focuses on applications for films, moldings, extrusions and fibers.
Manuck, who lives near Techmer´s biggest production plant in Clinton, Tenn., has 35 years of plastics industry experience and held various manufacturing, sales and management posts with such companies as Ampacet Corp. and Monsanto Co. before striking out on his own. He earned his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from The Cooper Union in New York, and his master´s in management science from New York´s Rensselaer Polytechnic.
