Reinhard Rieder and Jack Sutherland Flatt, two former Engel North America executives who left the company last year, have started a consulting firm for the injection molding industry.
Quillion Corp. of Kitchner aims to help molders find new opportunities and improve marketing and manufacturing.
``This industry has taken some serious body shots in the last few years,'' Flatt said. ``Globalization has irrevocably changed our industry. Many of its constituents realize that the heyday of the '80s and '90s may not be back and that they badly need transformation to survive, let alone prosper.''
Flatt left Engel North America as corporate affairs director in April. Reider, who was executive vice president and general manager, left Engel in May. They both worked out of Engel's plant in Guelph, Ontario.
Rieder has a background in tooling, manufacturing, molding and customer service. Flatt's expertise is in sales, marketing, communications, governance and business development.
