Milacron Inc.'s D-M-E Co. said its VectorForm system of pre-engineered lifters doubles the undercut, giving angles up to 30 degrees and more.
An innovation of Takao Injection Mold Engineering, the lifter system offers design flexibility, since designers can incorporate undercuts that are twice as deep as previously possible, D-M-E said. Mold designers can cut their ejector stroke in half while maintaining existing undercut geometries.
VectorForm uses a slide base concept to greatly extend the lifter angle. The lifter rod is actuated from a sliding base instead of a static base in the ejector place.
A modular design allows ganging of multiple lifter systems to accommodate very large lifter cores, something D-M-E said was not possible with pre-engineered lifter systems.
Also new from D-M-E is its Multi-Parting Line system, which doubles the number of cavities on standard single-face molds. Applications include automotive, house-wares, caps and closures, cutlery and electrical/electronic.
D-M-E is based in Madison Heights, Mich.
