A thermoformer in England has begun North American licensing of its Virtuweld-brand blister packaging through First Choice Packaging Inc.
Mister Blister Ltd. in Worsley, England, sold 78 million Virtuweld units in 2003, mostly for packaging mobile phone accessories and do-it-yourself hardware goods.
First Choice will produce and sell Virtuweld in parts of the United States, said Paul Tomick, president and chief executive officer of the Independence-based company.
The turnkey contract packaging and thermoforming firm operates a Fremont, Ohio, plant and acquired the assets of PKG Alliance Inc. of Cumming, Ga., on Jan. 23.
Mister Blister operates Illig thermoforming and pressure forming equipment at its 80,000-square-foot plant.
Mister Blister also is in talks with a second potential North American licensee and possible distributors in Italy and Germany.
