Genpak LLC is buying the assets of a polystyrene food container plant in Wilson, N.C., from Linpac Plastics Ltd. The plant will close by April.
Genpak said it will relocate the equipment, but would not provide details. The Glen Falls-based company has 10 plants: three in Canada and seven in the United States, including one in Charlotte, N.C.
The Wilson plant employs 126 and primarily makes packaging for fresh meat and fish, according to Knottingley, England-based Linpac. In a news release, Linpac gave no reason for closing the plant.
Linpac Plastics Managing Director Andrew Creese did not return telephone calls. The company is a subsidiary of Birmingham, England-based Linpac Group, which was acquired last year by London investment firm Montagu Private Equity.
Genpak is part of Jim Pattison Group of Vancouver, Canada.
