Resin distributor Prime Alliance Inc. is swapping some BASF Corp. products for similar materials made by Ticona. Des Moines-based Prime Alliance also has added Kraiburg TPE Corp. as a supplier.
As of Jan. 31, Prime Alliance no longer carried BASF's acetal, nylon or polybutylene terphthalate resins. Instead, the firm will offer acetal and PBT made by Ticona, an engineering resins maker based in Summit, N.J. Ticona is the world's largest acetal maker, with a 48 percent share of global capacity.
Prime Alliance will continue to supply polystrene, ABS and other styrenic-based products made by Mount Olive, N.J.-based BASF. The addition of Kraiburg's styrenic block copolymers allows Prime Alliance to supply the rigid and flexible requirements of its customers, President Tom Irvine said in a news release. Prime Alliance already stocks TPE products from Ticona, Bayer Corp. and DSM Engineering Plastics.
Counting Duluth, Ga.-based Kraiburg, Prime Alliance now distributes commodity and engineering resins and compounds for 13 suppliers.
