Recycler Maine Plastics Inc. has opened a plant in Michigan to be close to a supply source, an automotive parts maker that provides industrial scrap.
Maine announced Feb. 10 it set up the 51,000-square-foot Schoolcraft, Mich., plant in June. The plant employs 15 and has three granulators, a baler and sorting systems, and can produce about 10 million pounds of material a year.
Now that the operation is ready, the firm is looking for other local supply sources, said Robert Render, president of the North Chicago-based firm. He declined to identify the current supplier.
Maine processes a range of recycled plastics. Last year it recorded $15.3 million in sales and sold about 66 million pounds of material.
