Fencing profile extruder Outdoor Advantage Inc. has been relaunched as Enduris Extrusions Inc. with a new management team.
``We're a different company than we were a year or two ago,'' President John Polidan said Feb. 25 at FenceTech in Orlando.
The privately held firm was founded in 1998 in Seattle as Windsor Plastics Inc. The company introduced residential product lines in 2000 and consolidated all functions in 2001 under Outdoor Advantage in Jacksonville, Fla.
To survive in the current climate, the company phased out one layer of management and implemented lean manufacturing.
Now, the management team is a combination of existing employees and a couple of new people from the outside, including Polidan and production manager Robert Bradley, who came from Alcoa Home Exteriors Inc.
``Our capacity has increased about 100 percent,'' Polidan said, attributing that increase to better business practices and the discovery of ``hidden'' capacity among eight extrusion lines.
Enduris coextrudes commercial-grade products sold only to wholesale distributors. The company still has one primary owner, a West Coast individual who Polidan declined to identify.
``We will add capacity as required,'' Polidan said. ``The new Enduris workforce and management team have transformed a struggling little company into something great.''
The firm has sales of $20 million, producing 100,000 pounds of fence per day, with about 60 employees.
