Dutch equipment maker Fontijne Grotnes BV has introduced a line of laboratory platen presses to make test samples.
Fontijne has two types of the presses, manual and automatic. The company said the compact machines are simple to operate.
The manual presses, called the THA200 and THB400, are suited for materials that require the “feel” of a hand pump. THA200 machines have a single hydraulic pump for opening and closing. The THB400 is equipped with two pumps, one for fast closing and the other for accurate pressing.
The automatic machines are called TP50 and TP1000. The hydraulic cylinder is a double-acting type, with two integrated pumps. Hydraulic pressure automatically adjusts to maintain force. Pressure, time and temperature controllers are mounted on front of the control panel.
Fontijne, based in Vlaardingen, Netherlands, also makes testing machines for thermoformed sheet.
The company makes a range of other types of equipment, some of it exotic, such as machines to make metal tires and rims and presses to compact medical waste and drums of nuclear waste.
The company's U.S. headquarters is in Itasca, Ill.
