M. Barr Klaus, former vice president of technology at Milacron Inc., has started a consulting firm to help molders with all-electric injection molding.
The Cincinnati firm is called Electric Injection Services.
Klaus holds eight U.S. and world patents for electric injection technology, and has several more patents pending.
His work dates to the introduction of the technology in 1985. Klaus worked at Milacron for 36 years before taking early retirement last year as part of cutbacks at the Cincinnati-based machinery company.
He will advise molding companies on project management of new installations, process and facility design, equipment analysis, training of setup technicians and operators, and troubleshooting.
``Our goal is to help molders get the most out of electric technology as soon as it arrives on the plant floor,'' said Klaus, adding that all-electric machines now account for about one-third of newly installed molding capacity.
