Automa North America showed a new blow molding machine it planned to ship to Scandia Plastics Inc. of Sheboygan, Wis. MoldPro Inc. of Burlington, Ontario, is the North American sales agent for Automa.
The machine is an updated, long-stroke, continuous extrusion model. The AT5DL has a 450-millimeter stroke and was configured with a double head, although it can handle a quad head at 100mm and a triple head at 135mm.
New Pipe Coil system allows for larger coils
High density polyethylene pipe coils can be as much as 50 percent bigger with a new coiler system from Pipe Coil Technology Ltd. of Wallsend, England.
The SPC180W allows coils of 1,500 feet for 4-inch pipe and 700 feet for 6-inch pipe, the firm said.
Longer coils reduce the number of pipe joints and cut the number of coil-handling operations at the pipe plant and construction site, the company said.
Arburg conference coming up in June
Arburg will promote multicomponent injection molding at a two-day conference this summer.
The event will take place at Arburg GmbH & Co.'s head office in Lossburg, Germany, on June 14, according to Friedrich Kanz, president of Arburg Inc. of Newington, Conn.
North American molders need to increase their use of multicomponent molding if they are to protect their global competitiveness, Kanz said. Arburg was displaying a 110-ton, two-component machine at the show, but it offers multicomponent technology for its entire machine range of 55-500 tons, Kanz said.
