TRC Manufacturing Inc. is adding vertical press capability with a 150-ton Newbury machine supplied by Van Dorn Demag Corp.
The Middlefield firm expects to begin running the press in early July after tooling for two new jobs is completed, Terry Ross, TRC president and owner, said in a telephone interview. One job is for an industrial threaded insert; the other is to overmold cups on the end of vacuum cleaner hoses to fit cleaning attachments.
The vertical press joins 24 horizontal presses, including several with 350-500 tons of clamping force that were added earlier this year to replace smaller, older models.
In addition to the molding shop, TRC's 45,000-square-foot facility houses its brush division, which uses natural and synthetic fibers to make a range of brushes. Ross did not disclose sales, but said TRC employs about 68.
