Plastimagen 2004, Mexico's largest plastics trade show, reported that its recent, four-day event attracted 26,571 visitors, a decline of 8.6 percent from its last edition, held in September 2002.
The 2004 show, held April 27-20, featured 715 exhibitors from 19 countries and nearly 253,000 square feet of exhibit space - compared with the buoyant Plastimagen 2002, which drew 29,084 visitors, and exhibitors from 29 countries, according to the event's organizer, Organizacón de Promociones y Exposiciones SA de CV.
Austria, Brazil, South Korea, Spain and Taiwan had national pavilions, while 13 Canadian and 54 U.S. companies exhibited this year, down from 19 and 57, respectively, in 2002.
Both events were held at Expo Sante Fe, in the western part of Mexico City. Construction on that new facility still is not completely finished, even though exhibitions have been held there for more than two years. Oprex Director Elena Maribona said the next Plastimagen will be held March 25-28, 2006, at a different venue - Hipodromo de las Americas, currently known as Centro Banamex.
