What plastics company is most admired by Plastics News readers?
We recently asked that question on our Web site. Any kind of company qualified — processor, material or equipment supplier, toolmaker or recycler. We also didn't limit the universe to companies in North America.
A few dozen readers responded, and we have to admit the results aren't scientific, although they are interesting:
* Eleven people voted for their own employer. While nominations from outsiders may be a bit more prestigious, it must still be gratifying when workers think enough of their own company to cast a vote. You don't see that in Dilbert.
* The reasons people cited were all over the map: ability to do special jobs, loyalty to employees, customer service, service to the industry and many more.
* A few top industry executives cast votes for rival firms, which should be particularly rewarding. (Take a bow, Bob Hoffer and Gordon Lankton!)
Who won? Injection molder Inland Technologies Inc. and resin supplier/distributor General Electric Co. were the only firms to receive more than one vote, so we'll declare them co-champions. Thanks to all for your votes and comments.
