Turkish pipe and fittings maker Novaplast Plastik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS has installed two new Krauss-Maffei extruders in a major expansion.
The new equipment, a KME single-screw extruder for polypropylene pipe and a KMD twin-screw extruder for PVC applications, were installed at Novaplast's new plant in Izmir, Turkey.
The machines can make pipe in diameters of 16-250 millimeters for home water and drainage applications.
Novaplast of Istanbul, which is part of KAR Group, markets pipe in 53 countries, mainly in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The company is shifting manufacturing out of Istanbul to the new plant, which opened in April, according to a company spokeswoman.
The firm previously had invested in Krauss-Maffei extrusion and injection molding equipment to produce polyethylene, cross-linked PE and PVC pipe and fittings.
``In 2003, we invested in injection molding machines and now we are expanding extrusion capacity. This will put us in a strong position to supply customers faster and better,'' said Novaplast Managing Director Samet Samedi.
