Ferro colors target wood/plastic market
CLEVELAND - Ferro Corp. of Cleveland has launched a new line of color concentrates for the wood/plastic composites market.
The new materials, made by Ferro's Polymer Additives division, also are available in liquid and low-dusting granular forms, officials said. Custom color matching also is available.
The products can be made without metallic stearates for processors that want to limit their use of metallic compounds.
Clean room features dedicated extruder
PUTNAM, CONN. - Foster Corp. has opened a 900-square-foot clean room at its biomedical research and compounding site in Putnam, where the firm is based.
The clean room includes quartz/epoxy seamless floors, a dedicated fume and dust collection system, interlock pass-through for materials and a gowning room for personnel. A Leistritz-brand twin-screw extrusion line also has been dedicated for clean room work.
AccelMax designed to aid rotomolding
AVON, OHIO - Accel Color of Avon has expanded its product mix with new AccelMax-brand blowing-agent compounds for rotational molding. The polyethylene-based compounds come in pellet and powder forms.
The materials offer additional stiffness in multilayer molding, relieve stresses and can lighten products as much as 65 percent, officials said.
AMI offers updated compounding guide
WYOMISSING, PA. - Applied Market Information LLC of Wyomissing has issued the second version of its North American compounding guide.
``The Thermoplastic Compounding Market in NAFTA,'' has information on 455 compounding plants, including types of polymers processed, types of compounds produced, contact names and details of parent companies.
The edition costs $599 in book form or $749 for compact discs.
