Big wheels keep on turnin' … and Wilmington Machinery Inc. reports its big wheels keep getting bigger — wheel blow molding machines, that is.
Wilmington's Series III 60-cavity machine can pump out 4,500 pounds of resin per hour, to make large containers. Smaller sizes are available for turning single-serve juice and dairy containers.
The company said the large-platen rotary machine combines six-layer coextrusion, an electro-mechanical clamp and improved bottle handling. Output ranges from a few thousand to more than 20,000 bottles an hour, with any material or layout configuration.
The Series III uses single or dual parisons with Wilmington's own high-output die heads.
Mold changes are fast and simple, said the company in Wilmington, Del. A radial positioning feature positions the molds to minimize flash and scrap.
Molders can apply clamping force for difficult bottles, such as polypropylene, and have the flexibility to change mold sets and mold lengths.
